The Old Cheese Factory, Reidsdale

The Old Cheese Factory Reidsdale is a multifunctional rural enterprise centre housed in the original 1920s Cheese factory. It provides emerging and existing small scale rural producers with comprehensive production facilities, training, advice and group marketing benefits. The facilities are available for hire on a pro rata bases or by partaking in a venture partnershipagreement with Reidsdale Rural Enterprises.

Facilities at The Old Cheese Factory Include:

Commercial Kitchen
Come and create in our well equipped commercial grade kitchen with a glorious outlook onto the Araluen Valley.  Turbo oven, gas burners and acres of space, the kitchen can be used to produce cakes, pies, sauces, chutneys, pickles, Jams and marmalades – the only limit is your imagination. The kitchen is also used for on-site catering for events and courses held at The Old Cheese Factory. The Northern wall of the kitchen opens up onto the lecture room allowing easy viewing for kitchen based courses.

Function/ Lecture Room
Available for courses, promotions and functions, our lecture room can seat up to 36 people at tables. Seating can be arranged in a café style or in a more formal classroom layout. We are developing a program of rural based and food industry courses, workshops and promotional events.

The Pressing Room
Is set up for the production of cider, wine and fruit juice. The facilities are open to venture partnerships where small orchard owners in the district can process their fruit into juice, wine or cider. Future plans for this area include community apple pressing days and cider making courses and weekends.

The graphics Studio
The design facilities at the Old Cheese Factory allow us and our venture partners to complete the process of taking primary produce from the farm to the shelf. Labels, web sites, brochures, posters and newsletters can all be produced in-house. There is a digital photography set up, a computer work station with design software and printing facilities.

Local Produce Shop
A small farm door styled outlet that stocks local produce including produce made at The Old Cheese Factory. Light refreshments are available including coffee and home made cakes. The shop is open Friday to Sunday 10am to 3pm, or by appointment - Call 02 4846 1999.
